Jet Lag Just After Sunset

Well, its that time of year when I hit the road for work again.  First stop: City of Angels, CA.  I managed to keep myself busy during the mind-numbing, never-ending eight hour journey from D.C. to L.A. on Sunday with The Female of the Species by Joyce Carol Oates.  After finishing The Museum of Dr. Moses I really just couldn’t help myself, and so far the stories in The Female of the Species are just as engrossing as Dr. Moses.

Since I’m scheduled to be in L.A. for two weeks, and then off to San Antonio for a week (I love San Antonio – look out Riverwalk, here I come), naturally I tried (and failed) to bring my entire library.  (They don’t play around with those over-the-weight fees, do they?)  So I settled for packing only the things on my “Currently Reading” list and the knowledge that there’s a VERY large possibility that I’ll return with more books than I started out with, anyway.

I could probably ramble for a bit more, but jet lag is doing a number on me.  So, I’ll let the first part of Stephen King’s “N” handle the rest.  If you’ve already seen this (and the other 25 parts), just ignore this and remember what I always say about being late for everything.  If not, enjoy.

The other 25 episodes can be found here.  Doesn’t this just make you long for Halloween?  If only Just After Sunset were being released before October 31st instead of after.  This would’ve been another one for the R.I.P. III pool.  Then again, if I wait for the paperback, there’s always next year…

I’m glad The Female of the Species is proving to be enjoyable. That’s a book I keep seeing around and I have considered picking it up several times. I think I just might have to next time I see it.

Eva: Thanks! I hear this is a good time of year to go too. Hopefully I’ll be feeling well-enough by then to take some good pictures. I had no idea you were from Texas. No wonder I like you! I always like people from Texas. :)

Nymeth: I’m speeding through this one almost as fast as I sped through Dr.Moses. I haven’t decided which one I like more, but The Female of the Species is definitely giving Dr. Moses a run for its money!

hehe: Texans are awesome. And South Texans…well..we’re just about the best. ;)

This is a good time to go, as long as you enjoy heat: it’s still gloriously sunny, but not the coma-inducing weather of August.

Eva: I can’t wait! I hope all is well there after Ike. I’m not sure how close it got to San Antonio.
