On being stingy, giving away stuff, and engulfing flames:

You know, in the history of BiblioAddict I don’t think I’ve ever given away a book, because… well, I’m stingy like that. Except with the ones I didn’t really like (actually, hated), but wouldn’t it be kind of awful if I pawned off a book I thought was horrible onto some unsuspecting reader? And no, Bookmooch doesn’t count. I don’t know why. It just doesn’t.

In any case, my fellow members of the bibliophile community are always graciously giving away books and gifts. And for no other reason than just because I’ve decided it’s time, I’ve decided to get in on the fun – that, and because I know that it’s just so darned greedy to keep two copies of the same book when I know so many others are wanting to read it.

The book I speak of is David Sedaris’ When You Are Engulfed in Flames.

On Friday, August 22, 2008 I am officially drawing names to give away a copy of this book. I was going to wait for a special occasion for this, but I realized that if you’re anything like me, any day is a special occasion when free books are being handed out.  Besides, come on, it’s David Sedaris.

If you’d like to enter the drawing just drop your name into the comment section and cross your fingers! Good luck everyone!!
