I saw this meme first at Imani’s The Books of My Numberless Dreams, and then at a few other places. The blogger is instructed to post the first line from the first post for each month of the year. Here follows my humble offering:
January: “When I can, I try really hard to read my New Yorkers from cover to cover.”
February: “I confess, I haven’t been reading anything on my list these past few days.”
March: “Romance, the bastard child of literature, never gets the respect it deserves.”
April: “There are plenty of reasons why people travel: vacation, exploration, and/or illumination to name a few.”
May: “I have a confession to make: I finished Housekeeping vs. the Dirt last weekend.”
June: “Wahoo! I just learned from John Otter at Grasping for the Wind that I won the May prize for the New Notions 5 Reading Challenge!”
July: “Every year, beginning in May, peaking the first week of July, and petering out sometime around August, a massive horde of tourists invade the streets of Washington, D.C. waving city guides and subway maps.”
August: “I’m going to keep it brief this time (test date quickly approaching!).”
September: “I know my content has been a little video-heavy of late, but I saw “The Bourne Ultimatum” yesterday, and I just had to share this.”
October: “I begin my review of THE LAST DAYS OF DOGTOWN by Anita Diamant with two apologies…”
November: “Ah, futz.”
December: “It is done.”

These are really interesting when read out of context like that (not that they weren’t interesting before!) I’m going to try this one.
Comment by kookiejar December 27, 2007 @ 4:24 pmThanks Kookiejar. I thought it was pretty fun too and interesting. Although I think several bloggers has much more revealing first lines than I did. I liked your list as well.
