Decisions, Decisions….

Would it be insane of me to join NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month)? I was thinking that since I’d already promised to blog daily from now on anyway to make up for my poor posting in October, this wouldn’t be so bad…

What do you think?

Keep in mind that if I complete it, I could enter the drawing to win free web hosting. Then I might be able to own www.biblioaddict.com – something I’ve always wanted…

No, I think it is gutsy – good luck! Also please note that I have changed my blog address (http://gortondelapaz.wordpress.com/).

Thanks, Christopher. I think I’m going to do it. Thanks for the update on your site change. I’ve updated your address and added your now location to the blogroll!

Sounds like a great idea if you have the time!! Good luck!

Well, if you end up doing it, good luck!

If I weren’t in school I’d be trying both, but I feel like I was pretty wise in deciding not to set myself up for failure — 30 total pages of essays, a month of blog posting, AND an attempted novel would surely end in much gnashing of teeth and tears. I wish I could do both blomo and wrimo, though — I find that writing in the blog every day really makes me want to write fiction as well. Another month!

Do it! I am doing NaNo at the moment and really enjoying it! Let us know what you decide.

Do it. Do it! I love owning my own domain. You’d be surprised how much your traffic goes up just by having your own domain. Even if you don’t win, you should buy your domain anyway. I got my domain at Netfirms for five bucks a year. (I just bought the name of my site; it doesn’t include hosting.) The only problem, of course, is finding decent hosting. That’s why I love TypePad.

I might jump in on the NaNoWriMo. My goal, if I do this, is to write the most atrocious novel in history. I can make James Patterson look literary, if I really put my mind to it.

Stephanie, that’s just the thing: if I decide to do this, where, oh were will I find the time? I do rather like sleeping, and reading, for that matter…

Kate, if I decide to do it (and it’s looking like I will) I’m going to need all the good I can get. I have no idea why I’ve decided to kill myself this month. I must have a death wish or something.

feather, yeah it does sound as if your plate would have just a tad too full. It sounds as if you’re being incredibly wise in choosing not to do both, unlike some people I know…namely myself. :)

a.book.in.the.life, I think I’ve reached my decision, and I am currently berating myself for being an insane person.

Brandon, I should do? You should do it (NaNoWriMo, that is). I would love, love to read the most atrocious novel in history. Hell, you make me wanna scrap the couple thousand words of fairly serious material I already have, just to go back and totally ham it up. I would probably have more fun that way, anyway. ;)

You make a very good case for owning your own domain. I’ve been dreaming about it for quite some time now. I’ve even researched different web hosts. But I’ve just found many of them so darned expensive. The monthly rates aren’t so bad until they ask you to pay for two years’ worth up front. As someone who eats ramen noodles on a regular basis, I just don’t have that kind of cash laying around. For some reason though, it never occurred to me to check out TypePad, though. I think I’ll look into that very soon…

TypePad’s basic hosting plan is 9 dollars a month, but I pay 15 bucks a month, because I designed my own site. Not a bad deal. WordPress hosts blogs as well, and a lot of people use that. You have lots of options. Hosting a blog seems to be easier than hosting a real website. But yes–I should write the most horrible novel ever, and shop it around. I’ll be the Ed Wood of novelists. If they publish Patterson, then they can publish me, too!

Have you read ERASURE by Percival Everett? If you do ever decide to write that novel, you and Thelonius might end up having a few things in common. ;)
